Pelinkovac is a herbal liquor with a
distinct bitter taste of pelin herb, from which it is made.
Traditionally, the liquor is made of pelin and additional 26 different species of medicinal
plants which enrich the aroma and intensify the taste.
Pelinkovac is traditionally consumed as apéritif before the meal or digestif after the meal.
However, this is changing as pelinkovac is rising in popularity and is now more readily consumed
as a bar drink. Pelinkovac is consumed chilled with a slice of lemon.
Pelin is a Croatian name for this perennial plant, a member of the Artemisia genus. Wormwood herb or absinth is the common English name for the leaves or leafy flowering tops of the plant Artemisia absinthium L.
